1. Log into the New Cloudflare Account
- If you haven’t created the new Cloudflare account yet, do so at Cloudflare’s website.
- Once the account is created, log in.
2. Add the Domain to the New Account
- In the Cloudflare dashboard, click the "Add Site" button in the new account.
- Enter the domain name you want to transfer and click "Add Site."
- Choose a plan (Free or Paid), and Cloudflare will scan your current DNS records.
3. Import/Configure DNS Records
- Cloudflare will scan and attempt to pull in the DNS records from the current setup.
- Review the scanned records to ensure they match the current DNS settings. You may need to manually adjust any missing or incorrect entries. You can export DNS records from the old Cloudflare account to help with this (see step 6).
- Confirm the setup.
4. Update Cloudflare Nameservers
- After adding the domain, Cloudflare will provide new nameservers unique to the new account.
- You will need to update the nameservers with your domain registrar (where your domain was purchased).
- Log into your domain registrar's account.
- Replace the old Cloudflare nameservers with the new nameservers provided by the new Cloudflare account.
- Save the changes.
5. Wait for DNS Propagation
- DNS changes may take several hours to propagate globally (typically 24-48 hours). During this period, traffic may resolve to either the old or new Cloudflare account, depending on the region.
6. Optional: Export DNS Records from the Old Account
- To ensure a smooth transition, you can export the DNS records from the old Cloudflare account and import them into the new account.
- Log into the old Cloudflare account.
- Go to the DNS section and click "Advanced" → "Export DNS Records."
- In the new Cloudflare account, you can import those DNS records using the "Advanced" → "Import DNS Records" option.
7. Disable the Domain from the Old Cloudflare Account
- Once the nameserver changes have fully propagated (usually 48 hours), you can safely remove the domain from the old Cloudflare account.
- Log into the old Cloudflare account, navigate to the domain in question, and select "Remove Site from Cloudflare" or similar.
8. Check for SSL, Firewall, and Other Settings
- After the migration, ensure that all SSL settings, firewall rules, Page Rules, Workers, and other custom configurations from the old Cloudflare account are set up on the new account.
